'New Show Come to Tow by Henrines
« on: May 04, 2008, 12:42:50 AM »

Now... I can't say as though this is my favorite song, but I can't really say that about everything I hear on the jukebox, either. But one thing's for sure... when ya turn on "Henrines," you know EEEEXACTLY whatchyer gonna get... good music that's well played, well arranged and well sung... like a pro... and that sounds just like you're sittin' at your favorite bar listenin' to music comin' from that daggone-old countrified "red-neck" JUKE BOX... sausage gravy, pick-up truck and all. Nuff said! (Oh... and I really DO just happen to like this particular song)... - Magic Potion

(At the risk of embarrassment for the both of us)...

I been there, but I always lacked motivation.  You seem to have it, so get past it.  The crises, I mean.  Two steps forward, one step back... Nothin' just keeps goin' straight up forever (except for what I buy at the supermarket and my utility bills).  It's kinda like the price of gas - it'll go up and down, up and down, even though it really just keeps goin' up, like a staircase.  Gotta keep puttin' your foot down every time you take a step up to get to the top of the stairs.  You're still young and "EXTREMELY TALENTED," and obviously sensitive enough (and smart enough) to recognize & admit a self-searching crises when you see it, not to mention being somewhat down & out troubled by it (the #1 trait of a true Artist - sensitivity, whereas the public usually only gets to see the #2 trait - creativity)!  First off, stop takin' it so seriously... If you don't become famous, there's other even "more important" things in life.  Second of all, you're tryin' to break into a biz where  a. rejection is rampant and  b. the odds of makin' a decent living at it ain't so good to begin with no matter HOW talented you are and  c. you've GOT IT, and don't let nobody ever tell ya different.  I know... I got ears... and I been playin' & listenin' to music all my life.  And the only reason I'm sayin' all this public-like in this here post is because  a. YOU brought it up and  b. (I guess now you're just gonna have to change your tune and do somethin' about it now, ain't ya)...

Put your guitar down for a couple a weeks, go hang one on once or twice to get it out of your system, and then go see a Hollywood movie or 2 and get yourself... "re-inspired," or something along those lines.  You'll see things different-like comin' into view right around the next curve.  If it's somethin' ELSE that's got you troubled, well... that's just life, and you'll get past it.  In the meantime...  Go GET it... because YOU want it... but, most of all... because YOU GOT IT!!!... IN SPADES!!!  (And if for some reason you decide you DON'T want it, then... well... Just make sure you're havin' fun, either way)...

Thanks for the fantastic music, and really lookin' forward to hearing more... - MP

P.S. Feel free to give me hell and to X this off after you get done reading it!

There I go again... stickin' my paws into stuff that ain't none of my damn business, or before gettin' all the facts straight.  And, whenever I do, I'm almost invariably wrong.

Really sorry to hear about your friend, and... yeah... that'll bring on a crises of a kind that none of us, including yourself, can do anything about except in the way of acceptance and coming to terms with what God &/or the Universe is all about.  Not (and maybe never) knowing why "shit" like that happens, our only real alternative, I guess, is to just get all shook and then move on, try harder, and see if we can't, somehow, turn it all into a positive.  And maybe that's reason enough.  End of preaching...

Again... Sorry to hear about your loss.

And I apologize for jumpin' the gun in my previous post.  All I can say is... Maybe there was a reason for that too, and... hopefully... a positive one.

Anyway... It got me in touch closer with your music so, whenever you get your new tracks aboard, be sure to let me know.  I'll definitely be listening... - MP
