jrock graduated from Berklee College of Music in 1997. He went on to a staff engineering position at Chung King Studios (NYC), working on projects with a wide range of artists , including Lauryn Hill, Smashing Pumpkins, Whitney Houston, among others. Along the way, he developed a close relationship with Lauryn, working first on Grammy award-winning solo album, The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill, and was eventually recruited to work as her home studio engineer.Additional projects included Del Amitri, Santana, Bob Marley, etc..
